Ann-Marie Haley: The Art Ambassador of Goodwill

Submitted by Sachie Johns- Publicity Coordinator, The Fremont Art Association

Ann-Marie Haley, a long-time and an active member of the Fremont Art Association in Niles-Fremont, generously donated one of her paintings to the Fremont Hills Assisted Living community on October 10th as a gesture of goodwill and on behalf of the Fremont Art Association. The painting was graciously received by the community’s Executive Director, Joan Newman who stated that it will mean a lot to everyone there and that they will appreciate and enjoy the precious gift. Having worked in the retirement community industry for many years before retiring, Ms. Haley has a soft spot for the folks in the retirement community.

The painting is a charming pastoral landscape of the site of the beautiful Fremont Hills community, located in northern Fremont, before it was built.  It was painted in 1999 and the facility was built in 2001—the painting is appropriately entitled: “The Last Round-up”.  This is not the first time Ms. Haley donated a painting—a donation was made to Regan’s Nursery in Fremont a few months ago (landscape of the nursery), and another to a Rotary Club a few years ago. Ms. Haley is truely the art ambassador of goodwill.

To view the painting and the gorgeous hills depicted in the painting in its new home inside the beautiful and immaculate Fremont Hills Assisted Living community, please call 510-796-4200. Their website is www.FremontAssistedLiving.com.

Reason for the donation:

Prior to year 2001, the location where the Fremont Hills Assisted Living community is situated, was abundant pasture land with hay field and cattle. The quiet, serene, and pastoral scene inspired Ms. Haley as an artist to paint. The nearby area around the Masonic Home inUnion Citywas ablaze with abundance of colorful gladiolas which attracted the artist to the Fremont Hills location. She decided to generously donate this meaningful and “historical” painting for the enjoyment of the Fremont Hills’ staff and its residents who had no idea how the place appeared before the retirement community was built.

The Perfect Location – Convenient, Quaint, and nestled in the Mission Foothills.

Fremont California, located about 40 miles SE of San Francisco on the East bank of the San Francisco Bay Fremont California, is easily accessible to and from many Bay Area cities, from San Jose to Walnut Creek.

Fremont retains its quaint, small town feel specifically in districts such as the Niles District and the Mission San Jose District.  These areas offer a glimpse into California’s rich gold rush history, while still offering family attractions and shopping.

Plus, you still get to enjoy the seasonal weather of Northern California, with the leaves changing in each fall.

The Luau was a Blast!

We had quite a good time at the Fremont Hills Annual Luau this year! The food was amazing, from adorable themed cupcakes, to authentic Hawaiian food. The weather couldn’t have been better for the outside party on our veranda patio.

The entertainment was very exciting, we were all serenaded by a talented signer and enjoyed the many demonstration of Hawaiian dancing–some of our staff even got to try it, to very funny results!

Our residents, staff, family and loved ones all had a wonderful time and are already counting down the days until next year’s party!
